Inclusion through employment

The career prospects and upward mobility opportunities on offer in the construction industry have always been renowned for being open to all, which is why VINCI Construction has made inclusion through employment an integral part of its corporate culture.

By taking action in the field and developing a wide range of initiatives with local employment partners, people who start out with no qualifications can grow into skilled jobs and on to a variety of supervisory and management positions.

“Our professions drive social integration, and we are proud to welcome people from all different walks of life, irrespective of where they come from and their level of qualification, as long as they are ready to get stuck in on our worksites. Our social joint ventures are innovative initiatives that help get long-term unemployed people back into work.”

Patrick Sulliot

Chairman of VINCI Construction

Our vision

By training, supporting and recruiting people who have been unemployed for a long time, we achieve greater social diversity.

Our objective

Offer long-term employment contracts to people who have been out of work for a considerable time (people from minority communities in the local area or those in difficult social and economic circumstances) as part of our annual recruitment drive.

How we take action

To boost inclusion of people struggling through employment, we have developed a number of integration programmes, particularly for socially disadvantaged minority communities. We also carry out initiatives targeting young people from deprived neighbourhoods or secluded rural areas, creating opportunities for them to join the company.

In addition to the action taken on a daily basis at each of its locations, VINCI Construction sets up organisations tasked with providing pathways back to work and long-term employment.

Programmes to support people back into long-term employment in France

VINCI Construction is involved in a number of programmes to support people who risk being marginalised.

Since 2011, the collaboration with VINCI insertion Emploi (ViE), a VINCI Group company, has supported worksites in their integration and local employment policy.

ViE supports struggling communities and can develop and deploy schemes to promote long-term employment. The company supports contracting authorities to draw up, kick start, oversee and implement an integration programme as part of their contract to benefit the wider region.

  • The GEIQ network (Employers’ Group for Integration and Qualification)

By working with the construction GEIQ network all across France, VINCI Construction is backing training, qualifications and long-term employment to support long-term unemployed people back into work. The GEIQ facilitates integration of people:

  • looking to learn a new trade or work in a particular industry
  • who do not have the necessary or suitable qualifications to find long-term employment
  • who require help dealing with social and/or professional concerns
