Innovating to protect the environment and promote sustainable development

Reducing the environmental impact of construction is one of the keys to the environmental transition. The quest for solutions is crucial, both to transform the ways we build and to optimise the materials we use. In addition to decarbonising the industry, construction can also offer solutions. Indeed, the environmental and energy transition could not take place without new infrastructure in housing, transport, and low-carbon energy.

“Climate change mitigation and adaptation targets mean we will need to completely renew all types of infrastructure, including energy networks, water management, low-carbon transport, and climate-resilient structures.”

Our vision

The construction industry must reduce its environmental impact. We have to deploy solutions at every level, across our business lines, with respect to construction materials, building maintenance and resource management.

How we take action

VINCI Construction innovates by developing cutting-edge expertise as well as by fine-tuning and implementing new processes and materials. The innovative methods and solutions developed by the teams at VINCI Construction – such as recycled aggregates, low-carbon concretes, hydraulic energy generated using water discharged from quarries, and porous asphalt – drive the pace of the environmental transition.

Ecological engineering is emerging as a critical discipline that has a central role to play in preparing and adapting land and aquatic ecosystems to the challenges relating to climate change.

1

Towards low-carbon worksites

We aim to cut the carbon emissions generated from construction worksites by 40% by 2030. This goal will only be achieved by making significant changes to industrial facilities and construction vehicles.

2

Renaturing and restoring damaged ecosystems

VINCI Construction leverages ecological engineering to preserve biodiversity, bolster resilience within ecosystems and combat climate change to ensure a breathable future.

3

Saving water

VINCI Construction is actively engaged in preserving water at its hydraulic facilities and within the infrastructure it designs. It also sets an example by reducing the volume of water it consumes on its worksites.

4

Efficiency by design

This approach to eco-design aligns with the idea that “less is more” and focuses on three main ideas – avoid, reduce and replace.

5

Low-carbon materials

Through its integrated material labs, VINCI Construction boasts renowned expertise in categorising, formulating, obtaining technical approval and implementing low-carbon materials on worksites.

6

Worksites acceptable to all

We endeavour to reduce the noise, visual and environmental pollution caused by our worksites and engage in constant dialogue with local residents to make our projects more acceptable.
