Dismantling of the spent fuel storage pond, Sellafield, United Kingdom

Nuvia is working on the Sellafield decommissioning project on the coast of the Irish Sea.

Keeping pace with progress in research, Nuvia is using its expertise to work on Unit B30 at the Sellafield storage pond in the United Kingdom. The pond, designed to store spent fuel, is the National nuclear decommissioning authority’s priority.

Prior to the operation, the unit must be cleared of its contents, in an operation that Nuvia is responsible for designing and implementing.

To ensure the safety of its employees, the company developed an innovative protective platform system that enables workers to spend two hours working at the site, instead of the ten minutes to which they were previously confined due to the level of radiation.
