CEVA railway line, Switzerland

The future regional express network connecting Geneva, Switzerland and Annemasse, France, is the largest project of the past 20 years in the Canton of Geneva.

A consortium comprising five Soletanche Bachy and VINCI Construction France subsidiaries and VINCI Construction Terrassement is building the Cornavin-Eaux-Vives-Annemasse (CEVA) line, which includes 3.7 kilometres of cut-and-cover tunnels in Switzerland and two underground stations designed by architect Jean Nouvel.

The teams are coping with a wide range of logistical difficulties including limited access, small land take, steep slopes and a large number of utility lines.

In early 2015, an additional contract was signed covering the French portion of the line. The new contract covers construction of a 1,552 metre electrified double track in a cut-and-cover tunnel between the Swiss border and the entrance to the Annemasse station in southeastern France.
