Bateg, a subsidiary of VINCI Contruction France, is working in a consortium with the Moatti and Rivière architecture firm and the Ginger Sechaud Bossuyt design office to refurbish this level, to some extent neglected by the public. The design-build project involves a floor area of 4,586 sq. metres, and includes the reconstruction of the Eiffel and Ferrié pavilions, the three lift access structures and rehabilitation of the restaurant facades. A floor will be partly replaced by a glass floor and equipped with a glass railing to offer visitors a ""look into the void"".

The iron lady will be made more environmentally-friendly through the use of renewable energy. The works, with a value of €25 million, began in May 2012 and will take 18 months to complete.
